What I’m reading..April tbr

Welcome lovely,

It’s another month and another TBR….or two… April is a busy reading month, considering I never seem to pass up a good readathon! I’m participating in two readathons and possibly working on a “secret project,”….but as I write this, I’m rethinking that plan! That is a subject for another day; however, I wanted to share my reading plans for April. Considering I’m writing this in the second week of the month, I’ve already read a couple of these books, but let’s talk about the readathons I’ll participate in this month.

Orilium - Spring Equinox

G - aka - Book Roast has created and maintained one of the most immersive reading experiences, and I’ve been a massive follower of hers for a while. When she announced that the Magical Readathon would be discontinued, I was disappointed even if the reasons were sound. When she revealed the “new” and (personally, improved) Orilium Readathon, I was so excited! If you don’t know what this readathon is, where have you been?!!

As a part of the Mind Walkers Guild, my character is studying to become a Mind Walker. Below, I’ve listed the subjects I’m to learn, their prompts, and the books I chose.

  1. Astronomy: Top of your TBR list

The Hunger of the Gods - John Gwynne

  2. Alchemy: Book featuring romance

A Dance with the Fae Prince - Elise Kova

  3. Art of Illusion: Book with trope you like

? (I’m sure one of my mood reads will qualify for this prompt)

  4. Spells & Incantations: Short stories/essays

The Language of Thorns - Leigh Bardugo

  5. Psionics & Divination: Book set in the future

Aurora Rising - Amie Kaufman/Jay Kristoff

  6. Conjurations: Source of light on the cover

Seance Tea Party - Reimena Yee

  7. Lore: Mythology-inspired

    Lore Olympus - Rachel Smythe

While this may seem a bit ambitious, this includes two graphic novels and a ‘small’ short story. I’ll be back next month to review how my reading month went! I’ve already completed 50% of my list and hope to keep that momentum ongoing throughout the month.

Realm - athon

This is the first round of a new readathon hosted by Covers with Cassidy. I love that I can pair this with the Orilium readathon considering we don’t have to finish a specific number of books. I’ll link the video below that explains it; however, I’ll say that you have two lists of prompts. One adds points to your realm, and the other takes away from the opposing realms. SO, while I may have specific prompts for the Orilium readathon, I have a list of prompts that will either add to my team or take away points from another team. In addition, whichever realm you choose, you have a subgenre that gives you extra points for every book you read in that genre.

I’ve decided to become a part of the…..drumroll please….

BAYLE

The subgenre is a fantasy romance, which should be a reasonably simple way to garner more points, as I love fantasy romances.

There you have it, my list of reads that I should read for the readathon(s). I am hoping to be able to get to more books that are on this list, but I do like to keep a little bit of free space in my reading plans for some mood reading. I started doing this in February of this year, and I’ve found that I end up reading more books and overall enjoying my reading much more.

Are you participating in either one of these readathons?

Let me know in the comments! Tell me all the details, I love to see what others are reading!

Until next time -

Mellisa
